BYNOE HARBOUR OUT & ABOUT.........

Been a while since our last update......It's totally heating up our way, a sure 33-35 degrees every day, but also the ole humidity is fully picking up!!! The buildup season is fully upon us, lots of hard core crazy arse storm cloud and lightening but still no rain!!! It's what they call the troppo season and you can fully see the change in everyone........Anyway, it's so fully cool to see and live in such intense weather patterns....got our cyclone guide of whats coming up in the paper the other day, all very exciting! We went on a fishing adventure in the weekend with some friends, a fantastic place called bynoe harbour; we went to a part of it thats owned by a pearling company in darwin and were lucky enough to stay at this old pearl farm which was crazy wild outback land, but with luxuries like toilets, outside bar/pool area and a commercial type kitchen.It was a mistake work camp for pearl labourers; they realised the spot was too hot for any farming so is now a holiday get away for Papasley pearl workers and the owner...The camp was set up in the 70's and was a fully equipped outfit for people to live and work, darwin being a slightly inconvienient distance away for a schooner or bite to eat.....so it's just a big piece of land with about 20 shacks or so that look like they've survived a few cyclones!!! It was really a photographers sream ( i was totally thinking of Mike & Rach and Mr Fahey and Boolag whilst cruising round ) hardly anyone goes there, its got a full time caretaker, and seems such a waste of beautiful land. Lots of massive Goanas, frogs hiding in the toilet bowl and quickly doing an about turn when it saw you coming into the loo and back up the "s" bend when you wanted to go!!!.... and top fishing!!! We didn't really catch much, ( i caught a few scratches on my bottom from throwing the cast net for live bait at 3am and fell into the oyster shell ridden billabong tho!!) were only there for a night, so drinking and yarning to be done, but definitely gave it a red hot go wetting the old line and caught a few delights. Well, thats about it from me, hope its heating up your way ( apart from port hedland! )

thought i'd show ya all some pictures of a fishing trip (very australiana i know the ole fishing thing, but man, i'm addicted, means you chill and drink and catch food you love to eat!!!) Any-hoo, we did a fantastic charter 400 k's off the east coast out great barrier reef way,(went to many reefs and reef breaks, breath taking stuff!!) and was one of the most awesomest things i've ever done....it was 6 days worth, and was super dooper rad, all your meals cooked ( first ever in my life, apart from fantastic mummy days...) really nice deck-hand lads to sort you out with bait and advice ( not that i needed it cos paul is well the crocodile dundee fisho man....anyway, the life in the water was spectacular, like the most massivest turtles everswimming around saying hello, the most venomous snakes slithering by, heaps of beaut fish jumping on your hooks saying "pick me, pick me", and coral of every colour that i was convinced i could touch if i put my hand in the water, but was that clear it was actually 100 ft or so below!!! i was the only kiwi on board ( of course), and only chick, and when i came 3rd in the drinking tally out of 18 men, i think i gained respect fully!!!! ( cos of course you get so much grief for being in oz as a kiwi most of the time, especially in the remot-er places where it can be awfully redneck and many years behind the times...which i kinda like too....)
